Have Your Say: Women’s Health in Bristol

Women talking around a table

Bristol Women’s Voice held its first Community Health meeting on Wednesday 19 November in Bedminster, as part of the Bristol Women’s Voice Health pillar. We had an excellent turnout and captured conversations with the help of Bristol Women’s Voice volunteers.

Breakout discussions centered on several key themes: reproductive health and misdiagnosis, feelings of not being heard in healthcare settings, women carers unable to access health services due to their caring responsibilities (some later being diagnosed with dementia), and chronic pain, particularly the difficulties in accessing appropriate treatment.

We were delighted to have Monira Chowdhury, Co-Chair of the West of England Women’s Commission Health Task Group, attend and provide an overview of the Commission’s work. Monira discussed how Bristol Women’s Voice feeds into commissioning work across the South West, ensuring women’s voices are embedded in healthcare change.

If you’d like to be part of this movement and have your voice be part of the health agenda, join us at our next Women’s Health Session. Keep an eye on our social media and sign up.
