Introduction to Debra Newrick

Hi, I’m Debra Newrick and I’m delighted to be starting my new role with Bristol Women’s Voice this week. This is a project that’s really close to my heart—supporting women in Bristol over 55 to speak up about the health inequalities and discrimination they face.

It’s been a busy and exciting start! In my very first week, I had the chance to attend the NIHR School for Public Health Research Conference in Bristol alongside our Director, Katy Taylor. I was invited to share a snapshot of our project vision and the changes we hope to see. Of course, it’s early days—and that’s the beauty of it. The heart of this work will be shaped by the women themselves, piece by piece, with their voices leading the way.

We’re holding our very first Women Over 55’s Meeting on Wednesday 11 June, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at The Baptist Church, Broadmead (BS1 3HY).

If you’d like to come along or find out more, feel free to get in touch with me at healthcoordinator@bristolwomensvoice.org.uk or call/text 0755 7540 301.

Alternatively, please register on EventBrite here

I’d love to hear your thoughts—how can we come together to make this work meaningful? Ideas, connections, and conversation are always welcome.
