By Debra Newrick, Health Project Coordinator
The Over 55’s Health Discrimination Project is going great in partnership with Bristol Older People’s Forum.
We have been meeting monthly with the core group and have co-produced a project plan that will support the subgroups. The main themes to influence change chosen by women in Bristol Over 55 are:
- Sexist and Ageist Language in Health and,
- GP and Medical Training to include more women’s health needs over 55.
We have found there has been fantastic movement in Menopause training and organisational strategies to support women’s health in the workplace, although mostly it is reproductive health that is the focus. We want women post-menopause to feel seen !!!
The project is funded by The People’s Health Trust and we were delighted to welcome Rachel Tynan to the last meeting, where 30 women attended.
The focus was on influencing and writing an action plan which is now a template for the project. You said we did it at the bedrock of the initiatives Bristol Women’s Voice delivers.
