Bristol Women’s Voice is committed to building a movement that unites all women in the fight to dismantle the patriarchy and advance gender justice.
We recognise that the Supreme Court’s ruling on the definition of a woman (Wednesday 16 April 2025), based solely on biological sex, has the potential to further marginalise an already vulnerable community—trans men and women—at a time when solidarity and inclusion are more important than ever.
Bristol Women’s Voice stands in solidarity with all women and gender-diverse people. Our movement is strongest when it includes and uplifts everyone and we reject the framing of one marginalised group as being in conflict with another and instead affirm our commitment to intersectional feminism and collective liberation from the misogyny that harms everyone in society.
Gender justice requires changes to systems, policy and practice so that everyone’s rights are recognised and protected and we believe in the fight to reframe oppressive structural norms to enable a world where our relationships are characterised as power with, and not power over, all communities is crucial.
Our trans inclusive membership policy relies on self-identification and so remains unchanged. Going forward, we hope we can continue to work in solidarity with women from diverse groups and viewpoints to collectively act to end the patriarchy, sexism and misogyny for all.
