We are recruiting several volunteer Trustees to join our active board!

Bristol Women’s Voice is a powerful voice for women living, working or volunteering in Bristol.  Our aim is to ensure that women’s concerns are heard by decision-makers and acted on. We also work to empower women to take action on the issues that matter to them. The pandemic has posed challenges and setbacks for women’s equality, but we now need to make sure that women’s voices are stronger than ever as the country rebuilds.

We are recruiting several volunteer Trustees to join our active board. We are particularly recruiting to the post of Secretary of the Board as well as Trustees with skills and experience in finance, fundraising, marketing, communications, data analysis and HR.

As a Trustee, you will

  • Attend six-weekly evening board meetings; (currently virtual)
  • Oversee the governance, strategic direction, performance and delivery of the charity;
  • Play an active role in supporting the charity’s work through involvement with others in your area of expertise attending events; providing advice and guidance and supporting ad hoc pieces of work.

Trustees are required to be a member of Bristol Women’s Voice, and be a woman living, working or volunteering in Bristol.  You can join BWV for free here: https://www.bristolwomensvoice.org.uk/become-a-member/

A commitment to intersectional feminist principles and passion for making a difference are critical, as well as leadership potential and willingness to work within governance structures.

To address current areas where we are less well-represented, we would be particularly interested in applications from women from a Black or Minority Ethnic background, women with disabilities, and from women under 30 or between 60-69.

These roles are unpaid but offer training and personal development, as well as the opportunity to contribute as part of an inspiring group of women.

To apply please send a 500-word statement outlining your motivation to become a Trustee and your suitability for the role.  Please also include details of a person who can provide a reference.

Chair@bristolwomensvoice.org.uk or Clare M: merazclare@gmail.com

The deadline for applications is 13th August 2021.

Interviews will be held in the weeks commencing 16th and 23rd August.
